Obsession is something you create.
People think obsession is something you find, but in truth, you find something you love doing—and real obsession is created.
Not found.
Most people ask, “Why do you need obsession?”
You need it to win.
It’s not just my opinion.
On Joe Rogan’s podcast, Magnus Carlsen (the best chess player in the world) talks about how obsession was the key to his success and what set him apart from other kids his age.
MrBeast, on The Diary of a CEO podcast, shared that one of his earliest memories was making YouTube videos, and it was all he wanted to do.
(By the way, these are great podcasts—go watch them!)
So yes, you need obsession, because without it, how can you expect to become one of the greats?
It was the same for me with writing. Writing was always something I came back to, no matter what. At first, it was just a hobby, but then I became obsessed—with ideas, with getting better. I’m even listening to a podcast as I write this.
But how can you create obsession?
• Do something you love.
• Set very clear goals and actions for what you need to do each day.
There isn’t a secret formula. It will come naturally when it’s meant to. I know this might not sound like actionable advice, but it’s true.
